2006 450 diesel Canadian model, intermittent no-start. not the key lockout, narrowed it down to the starter. i have the engine dropped, intercooler etc all out. according to every writeup ive read, the starter "is a tight fit but comes right out and you dont have to remove the AC lines" after removing the thermostat housing. for some reason every writeup has a different design, beside the starter all this car has is this plastic housing that doesnt even have a thermostat in it. underneath where you see blue coolant to the right of my thumb under the plastic piece is aluminum casting from the engine block, this is blocking the starter from coming out. i see no thermostat anywhere
has anyone encountered this? im beyond frustrated with this car, if the alternator/AC compressor and a bunch of other BS on the side have to be removed to get the starter out i may as well just strip the car
