Has anybody else gotten skin rash or contact dermatitis from the scratchy upholstery in their Smart?
Particularly I mean the left elbow area, from rubbing against that scratchy upholstery in the door, in my case a 2014 ED.
I've been trying to find the cause for weeks now, then I got in the car and at dawned on me.
The issue would come up one week, like a small batch of poison ivy, then dry up, only to return a couple weeks later.
Not sure what to do to correct this...maybe a velcro'd cloth covering the contact area....likely an eyesore fix no matter what is done.

Strange question but...

Nothing you’ve said (so far) would lead me to believe conclusively that the car is the source of the problem. But I wouldn’t rule it out, either.

Try wearing a long-sleeve shirt or jacket when driving, and see if the skin issue returns?

Did your car have a prior owner? Maybe the door rest needs to be cleaned from a pet or body lotion, etc.?

Good luck.

I found this thread while googling about others being allergic to their Toyota Tacomas and 4Runners. I've been dealing with my elbow rash for sometime now. My wife gets it on her right elbow when she rides with me. Wondering if you have found a solution, thanks.

Was you car park any where, with windows open. Poison ivy oil blew in the upholstery of your car. That happen to me when I was young. Had the window open, on my Camaro. Parked next to a field. It was a windy day too. Drove home. Had poison ivy all over me. The car had vinyl interior too. You need to clean you car really good.
