Sunroof

Not sure if anyone has taken a saw to their roof, but I have. Sunroof in place, crazing be damned. Was ridiculously easy, and the lexan roof is thicker than you might guess. Not sure what became of the other pictures, I think the internet ate them. If anyone wants to see them, shoot me an email address. Total cost was $127.

And..... the one picture that did load is on my profile page.....

That looks great! Congrats on the courage to cut your roof. Always a scary proposition! Especially when you first make a cut and it's the point of no return!
That's really good. Did you paint your old roof black? Any head liner at all. I was thinking doing the same thing. On a steel car, you have the thickest of both the roof and headliner.

Looks great Godfather! That's awesome someone had the marbles to do it! Good job! Did you make a headliner yet??
Looks great. Is there any buffeting at various window openings?
It looks great, but what happens if a semi falls over on it?
Have to ask, do you have the panoramic roof?? What size roof did you use? This might be a good option for my Pure.
Looks great Godfather :)

Thanks for having the stones to do this one ..... don't think anyone else wanted to be "first" :D
Roof is 14x32, carefully spaced front/rear and side to side. Headliner completely unnecessary. Screws for the inside retainer trim needed to be 1/8 longer than what came with it due to the thickness of the panoramic roof. (About 3/16) Roof is a Coco Sunroof Slimline Countess. (Really.... it's on the box!!!) Used a sabre saw blade for cutting laminate countertop with a willing wife supporting the roof from inside with a block of 2x4. You WILL want to cover up the inside of the car. (Thank god I did) Have the name of the place I got it from, not sure if he's got more as it was an Ebay purchase. I'd be willing to email it to anyone who wants it, along with a few more pictures. No buffeting with windows down, no HEAT buildup inside with windows up and sunroof open at 87 degrees temp.
There HAS to be one.......

It'll bounce off........ the semi, that is.

Wow Godfather, you may have talked me into it! I think with an actual headliner it would coverup all my crazing and even quiet down the interior too plus darken up the interior a bit so I can watch DVD's while driving.....I WAS KIDDING ON THE LAST ONE!

Coco Slimline Countess - that REALLY sounds a lot like a stripper, not that I would know.

My BIG question - can the glass be removed. That is a deal killer IMO. I would like the glass to be removable.
Glass comes out. The sunscreen in the car becomes a nonissue clearance wise, inoperable due to the depth of the sunroof latch, but all the associated trim fits back in place. Looks sanitary from the inside.
I was wondering if you could weigh the piece you cut out.
I did some looking around and it said it was around 15 pounds. Maybe Godfather can remove it real quick and weigh it.....JUST KIDDING!
You are a sick man. It's too light to register on my scale. (Not you Kermit)

Shipping weight was ten lbs.

The piece you cut out....did you hang it on the wall as a sort of trophy? The roof is a bit lighter than what I have been researching. You HAVE given me the thumbsup on something I have been considering, we'll have to see where it goes - need to get together some $$$ to do it.
Hmmm...... could hang it on the wall as moot testimony to the idiocy of the first cut into a $600 roof...... but then, it did work......
