Ok, I've been driving with these installed for two days. I will say it does make a difference. Does it turn your Smart into a Cadillac? No. I have noticed a cushioning over the potholes. It also seems to quiet the front end when hitting the bumps. The install was very easy. I removed the first wheel but there is plenty of room after you just jack up the car to take tension off the spring. Total install of the second was about 2 minutes. Use soapy water to lubricate and they slip right on. Put them in the center of the spring (they screw up and down on the spring like a nut on a bolt) use wire ties to hold them in place and you are done. It raised my height by 1/4 inch.

Oh my dog! I installed the rubber baby buggy bumpers this morning and took 'er out for a test run. The improvement is amazing. Rough roads have smoothed out, hard corners have straightened and the entire ride has improved so much it's hard to believe.
On the subject of paying too much... I'm in the "support Smart Car aftermarket boys" camp. Maybe double the price is a little excessive but I was glad to have the correct size etc researched for me.
Do you think you have them above center, below center or pretty well centered on the springs. Like putting foot Cushions inside your church shoes. Smart shoes, same look, just softer walking.

FWIW, I contacted both of these suppliers through their sites and have heard nothing back from either one. Not exactly confidence inspiring...
I just purchased online, directly from the shox place and got a tracking number in less than 24hrs.

It's been my experience that some businesses are geared towards selling and not so much towards answering emails. For a $25 part I don't mind rolling the dice
