Hi everyone. I just picked up a 2016 smart that was a former car2go unit. I am trying to install a tachometer but the wiring harness does not appear to be where it’s supposed to be to plug it in to the car under the dash. I know that car2go used the same spot as the tach for their hardware so I am not sure if they took it out or what. Does anyone know if I can purchase the harness and if so where it needs to be plugged in?

Try under the day by the passenger footwell. I believe mine was there but I haven't tested it

I just looked under The dash on the right side / passenger footwell And didn’t see anything that looks like a plug not being used. By chance do you have a picture of what yours looks like?

Yes it’s for a 453 but the plug that is in the picture at Evilution is not there. I think is has to do with the car being a former Car2go unit. From what I can determine they would use the same plug to connect their rental hardware. I am thinking that when they removed the rental hardware they removed the wiring harness that I need.

My tach is on the dash on the driver's side on my '16 Prime. Factory spot.

That is where I am trying to install my tach too but the harness that it need to plug into it is not there. I am trying to determine where the plug terminates so I can find it.

  Just a guess but since it was a fleet car, it probably was not in the build. 🤷‍♂️

Same problem with my 2016 , I am pretty sure it’s also a car2go. No connector under the side panel.
Is it still possible to hook up the tach?

No, not yet. They also removed a trim piece on the dash by windshield, right in front of instrument cluster and there are some wires cut off, I have to follow where they go to, maybe that’s it. I believe they used those wires for some of their rental hardware or their gps, not sure.

did anyone figure this out? I have a 2016 as well ordered the pod and there is not a “plug and play wire”. Any ideal where else to look?

No, I am sorry, I could not figure it out so far.
Probably going to buy the vent and get rid of the tach.
