I can't get the tail gate unlatched. The plastic lever appears loose and out of position compared to the right side. Anyone else seen this? I can't easily service the engine (check the oil) with the tail gate up. It's not particularly cold now either.

Did you try to put your hands firmly on the left side and push it forward strongly?
It may be in-between.
I.e. I notice that if I have only one hand available, I can't un-latch either side completely at once. I have to loose one side, than the other, and then go back to the first side, then the second... and only then would the tailgate come down.

Ah, good thought. I know what you mean. This isn't an ADA-friendly mechanism. You do need both hands, and any slight skew seems to jamb things. The plastic latch is loose and disengaged from the "spring" mechanism. I can't get it to budge, so I've made a dealership appointment. I'll let folks know what happens.

Ditto for me too, mine has been broken on the left side since Nov. I can tell the latch is broken, not just jammed you can see it's messed up inside. I'm going to have it looked at when I go in for my oil change.

Still waiting for the call back

Dealer sent me home while they wait for parts to arrive. I had hoped to get in by now.

Yup. The dealer fixed mine. But it's clear you have to unlatch the gate with care. The mechanism is a bit fragile.
