The Dragon was the second road featured on Hell Roads tonight - a show from the Discovery Channel, meant to highlight the world's most dangerous roads. #2 slot - not bad! They featured Darryl Cannon (Killboy) and his wife. It was a real nice, not hyped, slot.

Maybe we need the Discovery Channel to do a segment about smarts on the Dragon!

That was great!
I would much rather drive it in the car, than on a bike....

It's on again Saturday, if you missed it tonight.

I happened to catch the show part way through the Dragon segment. The bad part of that was I went and got the wife (Rockmamma) to come watch it with me. She said IF we go this year she will NOT (!) be riding with me on "that Friggin road".
(Good...........I can drive faster that way, shhhhh. Don't tell her):D

ATL, quite sure. One of the suggested items to bring along for the trip was motion sickness pills. We'll just say this ,we didn't and the car almost needed a good cleaning.

Balance? don't need no stinkin' balance!:D

Downloaded the show last night and watched the Dragon segment.

I did not realize the transport traffic was as heavy as it is. Why are the police not doing something about it?

Yes, I was SHOCKED  that 18 wheelers were allowed. Obviously, they cannot stay within their lane, so it is a safety hazard for even slow moving traffic. They really should ban large vehicles !

She'd have to knock a hole in the floor because there are only 2 pedals which are under my feet.:p
Maybe she could learn how to do that from Betty.
She just about has a hole worn thru the passenger floor from jamming that imaginary brake pedal!

The guy that runs TailoftheDragon.com, and a number of others, have been lobbying for years to get the Great State of Tennessee to ban truckers from rt 129 through that part, but it has fallen on deaf ears. There are quite a few pics on that site showing the unequal treatment of bikers by the police (they nail bikes all the time, but typically don't bother anyone else, or so the story goes). And, as they point out in the show, the GPS doesn't show that level of detail until it is too late.

Quite often a couple of individuals from the area will escort the trucks through, staying a bit in front of them to let anyone coming from the other direction know what is about to met them. This helps but as someone who has come across several big rigs trying to make it through the dragon (and as someone who has got stuck behind a couple of them) they really should ban anything with more than 3 axles from going through there.
