I'm currently shopping around for winter tires for my Smart 451. I bought the car used and have a few questions and if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated:

1) Is TPMS sensor standard on the 2010 451 Pure?
2) If I get the TPMS sensor installed do I have to goto the dealership to get it configured or can I do it myself?
3) When I switch from Winter back to my regular tires, do I have to reconfigure the TPMS sensor?

The sensors were/are standard on all 451s.
As far as I know, there's no configuring involved - the car will recognize the new sensors if they are the correct ones.
Same thing when you swap back to all season tires. :)

Similar question about a spare tire. I'm running rear wheel on all four corners in my 453 and am getting ready to add a full size spare and was trying to decide if I should put a TPMS sensor in it. Would having five sensors confuse the TMPS? When I install the spare would the TPMS just automatically know that the spare is on a driving wheel?

Thanks

You should not fit a TMPS sensor to your spare as it will just confuse the system.

If you get a puncture, put on the spare, get the tire fixed, and replace and reset the TMPS system using settings on your display.

Details of fitting a spacesaver or spare behind the passenger seat (and tied down). No TMPS sensor in the spacesaver.....https://www.smartcarofamerica.com/f...re-wheel-combo-135010/index3.html#post1674786
