An interesting story I found in Hemming Motor News.

Thought some of the automotive enthusiasts here would enjoy.

Things I never knew about the Trabant. The author brings up some interesting points. One of the things that stands out in my mind is that the body cannot be recycled, it has to be burned. I'm curious how many other things are made out of this material.

Enjoy, Rick

I drove through East Germany in 1980 and the Trabants were a running joke. Their top speed was a bit less than the 100 km/h limit on the Autobahn and one seemed to be broken down every 15 km.

Also.....when I lived in the Netherlands from 1969-72, a neighbour had one and he went to work VERY early.... It was hard to start. Every morning, Ring-da-ding-da-ding "POP", repeat for 15 minutes, as a pall of blue oily smoke drifted down the street, killing insects and stinking out anyone whose window was open. I hate Trabants.
