All four of the dealers I've talked to about this have said it's not a problem. First of all, my VIN sticker doesn't have to be replaced so for me that's not an issue. But before we figured that out they all said the sticker could just be sent wherever it needed to go. - sheureka

The VIN stickers must be applied by authorized persons representing the manufacturer. there are fraud issues and actual accounting problems if not. that said, it may be able to be transferred to another dealer, just they have to actually put it on.

I'm gonna keep asking this until someone can provide an answer; the batteries in the 09 cars are the same as in the 08s (42 ah), so why aren't the 09s with alarm and/or comfort package getting new batteries? Has smart engineered something on the 09s to stop the battery drain (and if so, why don't they retrofit "it" to the 08s?) Inquiring minds, etc.
Mines a 09 with comfort package and it has the 61AH battery stock:cool:

I got zippy flashed this afternoon. New battery and new manual and new tranny upgrade. It only took about 30 minutes.

And yes I do notice the shifting difference right off. And I love the manual to auto --- auto to manual shortcut!

Who would have dreamed we'd be software patching our cars the way we do our computers? I love this century! :)

I too love this century. :p

Just had ours upgraded yesterday. The ease of selection between "D" and manual is alone worth the effort of bringing into the dealer. Much better in the city as one can hold it out of 5th, yet switch back to "D" with a touch of the paddle.

One stop... got the works, Batt, Trans, Radio cable. Happy, happy. :D :D A2Jack

Perhaps it's a logistics/pacing thing? Since we're moving into warmer temps and the '08s are the more critical cars, smart can just replace the '08s for now with a limited set of replacement batteries and then fork out the additional at a later time to upgrade the '09s. They can earn interest on a chunk of change until the fall and by then the dealers should be done with the bulk of the '08s.

Just a thought...

Most important part of the "campaign"...

I wouldn't call the '08 trans jerky... and from what I gather there isn't that big a of a change.
smart 2.0 is something no one has mentioned so far and it is this.

NO MORE "HUNCHING" while stopped in traffic, at a light or stop!!!!!!:D:D:D

This will add life to the clutch. The ability to get into manual with the paddles is definitely an improvement as well. :)

No, I didn't disconnect the cruise or install Steven's jumper. After the service was done, one of the techs asked if I had cruise control installed. They didn't even notice!
Thank you Suze. My dealer hasn't done one yet on a car with cruise control. (The manager, who's definitely not a techie, suggested I put in the jumper.) Glad to hear I don't have to bother doing that. :)

Woah, I didn't even notice it but it's true, the flash fixed the hunching! Sweet!

As for the shifting, I didn't notice any real difference in the speed of the shift.

I just got my 09 upgrade for the transmission and I did notice that shifting from 1st to 2nd is faster. when you are gunning it for power you can really notice. I would almost say the lag time has been cut in half. Overall the shifting is much smoother.
