Transmission requires a GL-4 gear oil, lots of choices.

Do not use a GL-5 gear oil, it is not friendly to yellow metals...

I've read that post. But I have an automatic transmission, not a manual transmission.

Costco does not have gear oils, they got Mobil 1 engine oil at great price. I would consider Redline 75W-90 gear oil if one wants to replace it. No sure why you want to change gear oil? Got > 500k miles on your Smart? that may justify changing gear oil.

It should read 300,000 miles! BIG money maker for MB service department. If you have leased Smart car you may follow such recommendation. I would ignore it, car's transmission is manual with automated clutch. You do not change transmission fluid on other cars with automatic transmissions at such frequency. Do some research, before panic time.

First time changed the sauce on Katerina... if a had a clean pan, I'da poured it right back in. Two 1at jugs of Valvoline Syn-Powr 75-140w. No more milkshakin'. You can use a long hose, but I jacked up the left rear and jammed said jug betweenst springs. Fill pug left top, drain vein right bottom.
