Hi,
Ever since I bought my smart secondhand I have always heard the sound of escaping air when I back off on the throttle. Recently I now get this sound on full throttle and the power drops off at the same time. Despite this I can find no evidence of a blow off valve. All the air hoses are tight. Were smarts ever sold with a blow off valve? If so does anyone know where it is? And if not why do I get the sound of one on throttle back off. Thanks for your help - Philip

All smarts to 2007 had turbos and incorporated waste gates. BOV are available for those smarts but weren't stock. Certain European smarts (Brabus) had turbos. None sold in the US came with turbos. Some people have put turbos on their US smart, like Jet above. I have a 2003 and I have installed a BOV. I have no idea why you would be getting that sound.
