ordered a Fram air filter on fleabay then watched youtube to see how to do it. no problem honey have it done in a jiffy and be back in. popped the hood....oh oh ain't no way. i tried but no luck so out comes the angle grinder, hack saw and soldering gun to cut and melt the piece of crap silencer box out. whew done, ok pop the filter in and button it up. nope no such luck. seems Fram makes the sealing gasket so high on top of the filter you can't get the fingers of the lid in the slots on the body of the box. so out comes the razor blade, scissors and snips to trim it down. finally done. oops forgot, gotta go to lowes to get 2 plugs for the holes.

at last, all that to change a filter

I keep checking the Injen website for when/if they get a CARB EO# for their intake. Had a hard time with a '99 GS400 and ended up going with a K&N. Sounds like an intake is in my future if they ever get the CARB #.

I wish there was one out already. I hate that I'll have to switch back over when it comes time for a smog check.

I've been using a Fram CA 10604 for the past six years, never had a problem..
Heat up the engine, remove the rubber bellow, undo the clips, remove the top of the airbox, remove filter - reverse order - Takes me about ten minutes...

Here in Illinois, so long as the CEL is off you'll pass smog; even if the car is little more than swiss cheese held together with duct tape and zip ties.

what did you do to your cruiser? my 03 was 215hp stock. imagine if we had that engine in the smart.....yeeeoooowwweeeee

I had mopar stage 1 PCM and injectors, 3" o2 housing and downpipe with electric cutout, hard pipes turbo to airbox, hot and cold side of intercooler, hks BOV and diablosport programmer running 93oct canned tune.

When I dynod mine stock it only put 183whp. But crank was 215. Quite a loss.

you could have boosted it a few more ponies from what i read by using the plastic intake (runs cooler than the aluminum).

i was seriously looking at installing a water injection system (had some benefits)

my dad was a bomber tech in WW2 and said when the planes took off fully loaded they would use 50 gallons of water for the superchargers then jettison the drum.

i ran a water/alcohol injection on my supercharged S10 v6. and hooked just plain water up to 2 of my SS Monte Carlos and had alot of fun. i could run higher octane with advanced timing or make it sound like a car with a race cam by loading it up on drive thrus on sat nites.

hmmm might even think about the baby and see what happens. i usually put a momentary switch on the shifter so that i could control the duration.

True. But was a pain finding good enough deal on one. I bought one once but they only sent lower half and wanted me to pay $150 extra for upper half so I passed. Just took back seats out before most runs.
