US extends tax credits for EV chargers, motorcycles, fuel cells, again retroactively

When are "incentive" credits handed out both retroactively and extended forward? When a group of politicians are making the rules!

The US spending bill just agreed to last night includes extension of tax credits for home EV charger installations, electric motorcycles, and fuel-cell vehicles.

May be some "found money" for some of you, I know that I will be throwing in on my Level 2 charger install.

These credits were previously extended through the end of 2017, though that time the extension was retroactive, as taxpayers didn’t know about the incentive during the incentive period. Now, those credits have been extended retroactively again — covering the last two years, since 2017. They’ve also been extended forward through the end of 2020.

No, the late Tuesday agreement was in The House who have passed it on to The Senate and while the Friday DEADLINE looms large, the political waters are very turbulent!

The Senate on Thursday approved the first of two legislative packages (H.R. 1865) that together make up a nearly $1.4 trillion spending deal to keep the government funded and avert a shutdown at the end of the week. The vote was 71-23. A vote is expected later Thursday on the second measure that makes up the spending deal.

Once both have passed, the deal will head to President Donald Trump for his signature.
Note that this does not extend any tax credits for EVs themselves.... :)

12/20/2019 - An early Christmas present ...

President Donald Trump signed a $1.4 trillion spending package Friday that will put off the possibility of a government shutdown until next fall . . .
Note that this does not extend any tax credits for EVs themselves.... :)
Well we sure don't need a tax credit for the Smarts anymore. :(
