My 2017 ED makes a loud whining sound above 35 mph from the mirror area. I took it to Mercedes of Seattle. They confirmed it is a failed windshield seal and eligible for warranty repair. Then they told me that about 1/2 of the windshields that they pull break and if it breaks the replacement ($600) is on me. I did call Smart (well MB) and was informed that repair of damage caused by a shop is up to the shop and MB doesn't get involved.

Is this typical treatment? I'm guessing if I had bought a $100k MB the treatment would have been different.

In Florida, your comprehensive insurance would cover the cost of the windshield. Check you policy and see if you are covered in Washington state. Good luck.

The dealership themself, don’t repair any of the window glass on cars. They hire a independent automotive glass company to do the repairs.
