Over the past week or so, my Smart has received new dual fog/driving lamps behind the front grille, a GoPedal, a built-in learning garage door opener and a custom windshield wiper delay circuit with 3-100 second interval delay.

It was NOT easy to fit all of the hardware into the button assembly. There was a lot of cutting, drilling case modifications and funky connectors to get everything to fit properly.
Which button fires the ejector seat?

The Eco button labels will eventually be replaced by some glow-in-the-dark vinyl decals I ordered. Likewise, the speed control dial for the wipers will get a decal of its own. The blue ring button turns the intermittent wiper function on and off. The white and yellow LEDs correspond to the color of the driving/fog light color. All the buttons are press once to turn on, again to turn off.

I debated in trying to use a cabrio roof switch to activate the new door opener buttons for more of a factory look, but the HomeLink module is almost completely encased in plastic and I would risk damaging the circuit board to get to the button solder pads.
I can't help but feel like those fog/driving lights would be less useful for actual visibility, but more useful for blinding oncoming drivers.

I drive through some rural areas where there is frequent heavy fog. I doubt they will ever be used in heavily populated areas, except maybe as daytime fog lamps when the conditions warrant.

Got a set of door panels to replace the red ones I have in my 09. They still had the speakers attached, which was cool, because I’m thinking of replacing some of mine. The OEMs are truly crap. Plastic frame, paper cone. Something I’d expect from the 70s.

For anyone interested, they are 6.2 inches across, and 2.5 inches deep. The original covers are fixed in place with plastic studs melted down, like one shot rivets.

Got a set of LED license plate lights in today and installed them. Not a bulb style replacement, but a board. Quite a difference from the incandescent bulb.

And here’s the result using the OEM housing with new LED bulbs.

This nighttime visual shows how it makes our smart more visible after dark!

Participated in a drive by at the local assisted living facility where my mom and dad spend their last years. I'd guess there were a hundred or more cars that participated, escorted by police and followed up by a firetruck. What a nice gesture this was for the residents who can no longer see their family. I did a little decorating of my Smart car for the occasion.

Very sharp. How do you like those paddle shifters? Any issues with installation?

Was last evening. 35-40->0 in an instant. They pulled right out in front of me. Electric Snowball is dead.

Wow. That sucks. Damage doesn't seem too bad overall, though, considering the speed. I know it's more than likely totalled, unfortunately, but hey, it could have been worse.

Wow! In hope no one was hurt! A car is plastic and metal and rubber and glass. We love them, but they are ultimately tools and can be replaced.

I’ve had people pull out in front of me and had the opportunity a few times to ask them why as non-confrontationally as I can. I’ve been told three times now, “I’m sorry, I just didn’t see you.” I think it’s the same with our Smarts as is is with motorcycles - the smaller size just doesn’t “register” as “that’s an oncoming vehicle” when the driver is not 100% focused on driving.

Like motorcycles, I drive with my headlights on at all times to mitigate the situation.

Yes, driving with lights on is a good idea... but consider this... the size of the smart is much smaller than a normal size car, which can make the car appear much further away. If that is the case, then someone pulling out may think there is plenty of room, when in fact there is not. In the future, I intend to drive with my headlights on, in an effort to avoid what the big "C" went thru.
