i was changing the cabin filter and right above it and to the left there are 2 white plastic bevel gears....what are they for

and in the same location a wrapped wire harness had 2 maybe 18 or 20 gauge yellow wires with a real bright yellow connector on the end....what is it for

I believe you are talking about the heater speed resistor Gives you the different speeds on the blower motor, and the gears are probably for the heat/defrost door. Just a guess.

it has been going a bit slow with the cold weather and the bad days with my knees hurting after surgery. but it is getting there..

The gears are turned by a cable connected to the vent mode knob. Yellow wires with a yellow connector are usually SRS wiring.

i figured out what the yellow connector was.....the mp3 wire that plugs in the back of the radio.

funny someone didn't think of that earlier especially when i posted that the mp3 wasn't working. noone suggested looking for a yellow plug that goes in the back of the radio
