I think I might have an issue. I walked out in to my garage this morning and smelled something like I've never smelled but it made me think it was something electronic. My ED was plugged in to my level 2 charger. When I turned the key to start the car, this came up on the dash.

Anyone know what this might mean? I'm hoping it's nothing major but I have this sinking feeling I might not be driving my Smart for a little bit.

Hate to say this but wires are made of smoke. if you let the smoke out of the wire, it won't work unless you replace the wire with new wire and fresh smoke.

Once you smell the smoke escaping, you are in trouble and should disconnect any power. I also hope it is nothing serious, but it doesn't sound good..

That's too long! Get a rental...

Oh, they gave me an almost brand new Mercedes C300 to drive. I'm not complaining...other than that it only get 25mpg and I have to put the most expensive gas in it. But to be given a brand new Mercedes to drive until it's fixed has me in the no-complaint-zone. Just wanted to share since no one seems to have had the joyful experience of having to have a battery replaced in an ED yet.

Did you ever find out which ECM had melted? Or anything more about what happened?

Hope you get your car back soon!

No, I didn't get any specifics. The price tag I was given was $5500 had I been paying for it. He said it was the second most expensive individual part on the car behind the battery. It must have been on the high voltage side since the connection to the battery was the issue. Does that narrow it down to an individual part?

Chris what's the neighbors all gonna think of you driving a lowly C300 after driving a good car like a Fortwo? They're gonna talk! DCO
