You should be able to put wider tires on the stock rims but make sure if you do so that the overall rolling diameter stays the same.

Front tires (155/60r15)- 22.3"
Rear tires (175-55r15)- 22.6"

If you change these measurements, you could change the speedometer accuracy to your car.

I'd wait until the 'Rack' has a 'plus-one' option for these tires. That way you can upgrade to a wider tire without affecting anything.

but that happens to every car that you change the rim size to.

I have replaced my rear tires with Bridgestone Potenza 185/55 R15 tires and keep my one remaining Continental in the closet for a spare. I dread having to replace a front tire out on the highway some weekend or night when everything is closed. Maybe I'll buy one of the front tires to add to my closet, just in case.

I hope you all know that tire price varies from state to state, and of course learn how to read the "inside wall info" there is so much to tires. Cheap ones are usually older tires that should have been off the market 5 years ago.

Discount tire center has the rear 175/55R15... 80,000 Mileage Warranty UTQG ...400AA/A..."ContiProContact" for $79.11 in Texas.

Just saying...

Ohh!! what the heck, go to Walmart!!!, they have bycicle tires there...

FYI:

UTQG= Uniform Tire Quality Grading.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) established the Uniform Tire Quality Grading Statdards (UTQGS) in 49 CFR 575.104. The UTQG rating is made up of 3 components:

Treadwear

The treadwear guide is a comparative rating based on the wear rate of the tire when tested under controlled conditions on a specified government test track. A tire graded 200 would wear twice as long on the government test course under specified test conditions as one graded 100. It is wrong to link treadwear grades with your projected tire mileage. The relative performance of tires depends upon the actual conditions of their use and may vary due to driving habits, service practices, differences in road characteristics and climate.

Traction

Traction grades, from highest to lowest, are AA, A, B, and C. They represent the tire's ability to stop on wet pavement as measured under controlled conditions on specified government test surfaces of asphalt and concrete.

Temperature

The temperature grades, from highest to lowest, are A, B and C. These represent the tire's resistance to the generation of heat.

Enjoy the ride...

I put four equal tires on and sold one front tire/rim, keeping the other for a spare. I sold one of the two rear tires and still have one rear tire only for sale. It has 1,500 miles on it and like new. Ship anywhere in continential US for $75 inc. freight.

Never buy a tire that is over 5 years old, even if it has never been used. They are unsafe and a new federal law is now being looked at regarding this. Overseas the laws already exist. To determine when the tires were produced simply look at the D.O.T. code on the tire (some tires have this on the reverse side, facing under the car).
