Here's a clue, correlating its three layers of reinforced steel with the Tridion name:
"Despite its diminutive size, the Smart Car is quite safe. It employs the "tridion" safety cell, which is made from three layers of reinforced steel. It was designed to absorb energy in the event of a crash to protect the passengers. Its makers say the Smart Car can withstand crashes with much larger vehicles."
It's just a name for the smart safety cage, like the word Astro Ventilation. GM use to uses on it wingless front windows. Tridion means it going to save you life, if you get hit by something bigger. They should have just called it a roll cage, safety cell, life protector etc.0
I think it's from the planet Tridi and was formed as an isotope when the planet exploded in the '90's. Rumor has it that the first smart fell to earth in Smartville and was raised by Mecerdes and Francois.
I drive the smart 453 with 5-speed manual transmission (ICE).
I've noticed Prius cars tend to get a better jump from a dead stop at a red light than my smart. Even if I try to slam the 453's pedal and change gears more quickly, I doubt my 453's start could match a Prius's jackrabbit start...
I just got a new 2018 453 Smart ForTwo coupe. Neat car.
I'm now trying to figure out whether it's possible to hardwire a radar detector and, if so, how. The detector I have is a Radenso Pro M, and I'd like to mount it to the windshield with the windshield mount that came with it.
How much does it cost to replace the 451 coup clear roof?
I was surprised none of the autoglass shops that do windshields could help with the SmartCar clear roof, but it’s polycarbonate after all, not glass, so it makes sense. But none of the body panels vendors seem to seek a roof either.
