I've posted this info in the past within some threads, but thought it might help to have it out in the open in its own thread.

As you know, Mercedes dealers who have never sold the Smart car cannot sell Smart car parts, but they can sell parts for a Smart that crosses over to Mercedes. Well, the desiccant cartridge is such a part. It is also used in the Mercedes B class electric.

My "go to" dealer for Mercedes parts and this one Smart car part is the Mercedes dealer in Asheville, NC. They sell parts at wholesale and charge no shipping costs if your order is more than $50 and they charge no sales tax if you are shipping to a state other than NC. Customer service is great and questions are answered quickly and efficiently.

Here is a link to them:

BTW the desiccant cartridge from them is $51.75 delivered to you. The part number is 789-340-33-00. It is such an easy job that anyone can easily DIY. I have not seen a better price anywhere for the cartridge once you figure in the outrageous shipping costs that some sellers nick you for.

Seems like the dealership I mentioned above has changed ownership and may be out of the online parts business. I'm trying to verify that. In the meantime, it seems like Amazon carries the desiccant cartridge for about $55 with free shipping. As of 2020 I see the price is now up to $65. Suggest you check the posts about just replacing the beads for a couple of bucks.
