Which sub box is best.

Guys I’m in the works of swapping out the factory radio in my 09 and plan on adding a sub.
I would prefer it to be stealth so it won’t take up space in the car.
I’ve seen the factory under seat sub(which mine doesn’t have) but the price is a bit more then I would like to pay.
I’ve seen the sub box on smart madness and I have also seen the jl audio sub box.
Is it possible to make one to go under the passenger side carpet to replace the foam block?(this could also house the amp if it’s possible)
Any ideas would be great.

Have you check out what Crutchfield audio has to offer, and low profile under the seat subwoofers.
I had one that I got from them back of this(had in a previous vehicle) which unfortunately had the amp go bad else I would use it.
I would rather have it under the dash as I’m wanting to get the under seat storage drawers.
Why not the open space under the passenger side dash? :)

Jwight you read my mind but I was wondering which of the two is the better choice.
I’ve looked and both are highly reviewed so it makes it a bit harder to choose.
Which is easier to install?(ive already seen the price)
Ok I didn’t see you had the smart madness box(slow connection)
I have diamond audio speakers(3 way component) in the doors and am going to do dash pods for the mids and tweeters.
I would like to if I could make the sub match but I need to know which box is easier to install.(I know it’s going to involve being on my back under the dash somewhat)
I have no experience with subwoofers, period - but it appears possible to make your own enclosure or have a local audio shop do it for you, using the speaker you supply. :)
Is the one you have in the pic in a custom box or the smart madness one?
Not mine - a photo from an old post. :)
Ah ok.
I asked as it looks very much like the one smart madness sells from what I see.
How would they do in the cabrio?
I’ve seen positive reviews from a few cabrio owners for both.

Hello The Big E,

Thank you for your interest in our under dash subwoofer enclosure.

The subwoofer enclosure we offer works well in the cabrio.

Prior to our's getting a full custom sound system with extra speakers and a center channel we had this installed in our MADNESS 451 Cabrio and it served us well, only reason for the change was the decision to go into a full show car. We have since used this sub box in several client's smart car builds and had excellent results.

If you would like, give us a call or drop me a PM here on the forums and I can have one of our Team Members work with you directly to answer any other questions you have.

Thanks again.
If you can find a powered spare tire sub (several Japanese car companies used them), but there were also aftermarkets available, that’s what I mounted in my 451 Cabrio. The sub fits neatly in the space above the passenger floorboard. I happened to catch one on eBay for around $20. It’s powered and has high and low level inputs.
Smart madness Ok thanks I’ll definitely be getting in contact with you guys on one as I may go that way so I can have the sub match my speakers.
Tim I’ve seen those but if I can would like my sub to match my speakers.

Gotcha! I changed all my speakers out as well as the head unit. Went Apple CarPlay and installed a backup camera. I couldn’t see behind me when the top is filling retracted.
Yeah that’s what I’m doing.
Haven’t got the radio yet but got the dash kit and wiring harness ready.
Likely will do a CarPlay unit as I got one in my 8 and love it.

Nice recommend. (y) any picture or source of that sub.
I’ve seen those.
Pretty compact.
