I have a 2008 Smart for-two and the Power windows fuse (30 AMPS) and green in color keeps blowing out, I have changed it twice this week and can't figure out what's causing the issue. Does anyone had this issue before, if so, how did you fix it?
Does the fuse blow as you are attempting to lower or raise a window? If so it is probably a faulty power window motor. If it just randomly blows it will be harder to troubleshoot because it means a short to ground somewhere in the wiring. If it is a power window usually a person replaces the whole lifting mechanism called a window regulator. You have to pull the outside door panel off to get at it but is isn't hard to change. The regulator is pictured below in case you have to dig into it.
The door switches control a power window module that actually controls the motors, that's the reason you can hit the window switch and it will automatically roll up or down your window. The power window module is underneath the dash.
