An accident involving a yellow smart car resulted in injuries for a woman and a 2 year old child shortly before 4:00 pm at the intersection of
California and Lander Street s.w. in the Admiral District.
Aid units from Engine 32 and others responded to the scene. Two ambulances were called one for each victim but the extent of their injuries is not yet known but both were taken to Harborview Hospital where they are in serious condition.

Update 1
KOMO News reported that the injured woman was the child's nanny. Both were transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening but serious injuries, according to the report.

Update 2
According to Lt. Ronald Smith with the SPD Southwest Precinct, the involved vehicle was stopped at the intersection of California Ave. s.w. and s.w. Lander St, started to make a turn onto California and struck the adult female nanny and child crossing the intersection.
Lt. Smith said the child's head was bumped and the nanny received a broken foot in the crash. Both were transported to Harborview Medical Center and HMC told police the child is "OK."
The Smart Car involved in the crash showed no signs of damage, Lt. Smith said.

"The Smart Car involved in the crash showed no signs of damage", but it has a broken driver side mirror. Maybe not a result of the accident?

The doctors in the hospital were trying to give the child bumped head medicine, but the child would'nt take it until the nanny sung "just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down" :p

Plastic body panels and a kids head are a good combination

If the smart was making a Right turn, I bet that dang mirror was hiding the two in the cross walk

Too many "ifs" at this time.
When you get facts, let a Mod know and we'll unlock the thread for you to post. :)
