Looks like they don't want a wrecked smart, but one with a trashed engine. People send me a lot of cars that fit that bill, I'll see what I can find!

I went through my saved listings and unfortunately the broken ones have sold. There was one that apparently blew a ton of smoke and another with a seized engine. Looks like they got scooped up really quick!
I'll keep an eye out.

Member Ckigar has a 2008 in Kansas City for $1200.00. He said the engine is toast, but the car looks good. It is red and has a spare tire on the rear. There is a photo of it in the thread about mounting a spare tire carrier. I just looked at the thread and it seems current.

I'm looking daily on eBay, Craigslist, Carvana, Autolist, Vroom, and a few others and so far nothing. There's quite a few Smart's, but no 451 Brabus.I went through my saved listings and unfortunately the broken ones have sold. If necessary I'll buy a running machine and will harvest it's organs in case someone else has a car on life support. Seems a shame to shorten the lifespan of a perfectly good car but my partner would insist if it comes down to that or not spending my days isolated in the workshop with a project....

To be fair I also don't know how that would work. I sent something, but I don't know this site well enough to know what it was really.
But yeah it's an 09 fortwo pure that I bought in hopes of restoring for the fun of it, but digging into the engine just a little showed the camshaft on the intake side needs replaced. And I don't have near the kind of space to comfortably learn how to dig that deep into an engine.
What all would you like to talk about it.

Pulled apart. It appears to all be there but I'll have to double check in the daylight.

Yes I have joined copart and have unsuccessfully bid on several cars. The difficulty I find is that even when driving great distances to inspect them, they are sitting on gravel in a lot and very difficult to ascertain the actual level of damage.
I appreciate the help offered from this group and look forward to being a more legit member when I actually get a car!

That and I do not recommend getting one that's missing a bunch of panels. Some stuff, like the belly pan and some front end panels, are already getting rare.
Your choices for replacement panels are SmartMadness ($$$), Autobahn Dismantling (which usually only has white panels), or try your luck getting some from overseas.
I got a new belly pan from Taiwan and it's clear that it was just 3d printed. lol
