Single wrench is to indicate basic maint (on odd numbers, 10k, 30k, 50k, etc)
Double wrench indicates a more intense (and expesive) maint on the evens 20k, 40k 60k.
They should both go off a few seconds after starting.
They can be checked anytime by pushing the left hand dash button three times (quickly)
This will show approx mi to next service.

I am so confused by all of this, should have done better research. Love my car but scared I won't be able to get it fixed or regular maint. (oil change etc...) with out going to Albany the nearest dealer....
Don't worry about that, any shop can change oil & do the basic service. In fact, it's so simple on this car, you can do it yourself. Make sure to check out the maintenance portal on http://owners.smartusa.com/. Just make sure wherever you take it they use synthetic oil.
I want to change the hub caps on my car can they be any ones for the size of my wheels
