Hi,
Another route if you don't mind a steep learning curve is the Xentry/Vediamo route using a genuine Tactrix Openport 2.0 adapter. With this combination you can clear almost any code that the ED3 throws up as long as there are no hardware faults. The cheaper Chinese clones also work most of the time but as I found out when JMK was re-programming my powertrain ECU, the clone version 'bricked' the ECU during the process. Fortunately I had just purchased the genuine Tactrix unit which I swapped over and JMK re-programmed the ECU using it, successfully 'unbricking' it.
The easiest way to get Xentry to run is using a VM copy, once you get it running it is the same software the dealer uses and you get all the information from the the car and can clear the errors. If you are keeping the car it is worth the effort to learn. I never had any problems reading/clearing errors using the 'clone' Tactrix unit ,only in the circumstance above which is not typical.

George

Hi,
Apologies for the delay in replying to your question, what I should have said is that not all J2534 adapters are what they seem as I mentioned in my post. The Tactrix OP2 units available from Amazon in the UK are all low cost clones of the 'real' unit from Tactrix (photo) in the USA at around four times the price (~ ÂŁ50 versus ~ÂŁ200). Tactrix developed the unit for the re-flashing of Subaru/Mitsubishi engine ecus using the EcuFlash application software also developed for this purpose. Part of this is the J2534 passthru driver and DLL which is used by Xentry/Vediamo. On Amazon here some of Tactrix 'clones' blurb specifically mention not to update the firmware on the unit from the real Tactrix website as it will stop working. It is difficult to say which ones are OK and which are not as things 'happen' even when you have all the correct hardware. The J2534 Mini_VCI adapter (photo) available from Amazon for ÂŁ30 is another which will work for reading/clearing codes but perhaps not for re-programming an ECU.
In the end I am sharing my opinions/experiences FWIW and YMMV.
Regards,
George.
