Radio 9's support MP3

I put a MP3 Cd in, and it worked. Manual confirms it.

Just thought people would like to know this if you didn't already obsessively read through all your manuals... :D

So do the 2008s

I've been running MP3 discs on my '08 Radio 9, since I got it.
I did hit a possible limitation yesterday tho - one disc with 3 folders, about 100 tracks total - got a "CD error" when it hit track 48. Don't have any way to know if it's a real CD error or just a track limit of some sort. . . the CD plays fine in my computer, tho.

Quote the Radio 9 Handbook Page 17:

The CD drive can play audio CDs and CDs ith MP3 or WMA files.
blah blah blah...

*Only MP3/WMA files (titles) that were burned on a CD using ISO9660/Joliet file system can be played by the system.
*Recording media you have burned may cause read errors in rare cases, even where the medium is recognized correctly in the normal way.
*The maximum number of filders per CD is 256. The maximum total number of folders and titles is 512.

More technically stuff in the manual. Cant be bothered to type it. But that should cover any user error there is... :D

How about that...!

When I purchased the vehicle, I specifically asked if this radio could play mp3s... and they specifically told that only the upgraded radio system would be able to play mp3s. I have just two words for this discovery: "bonus!"

This smart simply gets better at every turn.

you can get the title/tag to display by:
Press the <MENU> button and use arrows Right & Left of volume control to scroll through the menu items. When you get to MP3TEXT, if it isn't set to ID3, use volume knob to select ID3 or FILENAME.

for ID3 tags: if you get only two characters preceeded by a blank space and may be TT, TB, TC, TP, TN, TH, TW, TA, TD, TM, T', TF, TJ, TV, TI, TS, TL, T1, TR, T8, TQ, TG, TE, or TK. that's because the mp3 files' tags saved can not be read by the player.

see Radio 10 & ID3 Tag display for further explanation.
