My 09 Passion Coupe is just over 2 weeks old (and 1,500+ miles YIKES!). Today, I was reversing out of a parking spot and even though my foot was steady on the gas pedal, the car kept stopping and going while reversing. When I put it into drive (auto), it didn't move. It started drifting backwards a little but mostly just stayed where it was even though my foot was on the gas. I put it back into reverse and it still wouldn't work. I finally turned the car off and turned it back on and now it runs fine.
I still called the VA Beach dealership to ask about bringing it in and they told me to call smart roadside assistance to get it towed in. When I called roadside assistance, I was told that it was just an anomaly with the computer and it just lost its memory and needed to be rebooted. He said that it wasn't unusual for that to happen but it does not need to be taken in.
I still have a 10am appointment on Monday morning to get it looked at to make sure there's not a bigger problem although when I called, I was basically told there was nothing that they could do.
Is this a common occurrence? Because it's happened once, will I continue to have this problem?
The dealership I'm going to on Monday is not the dealership from which I purchased the car. I will be calling my dealer on Monday to discuss my displeasure with everything (I still haven't gotten my survey about the car). I have to say, I'm not thrilled. 1) my car was scratched by the dealership. I didn't notice until after I signed the paperwork. It's not too noticeable now but my brand new car still has an X scratched into the passenger side of it (where the barcode was). 2) My motion sensor was too sensitive and I had to take it in. and now 3) My car had a computer problem while switching from reverse to drive. All this in less than 3 weeks. I could scream.
I appreciate all of the help I can get about this!
