So I just picked up my pre-owned 2008 cabrio from a Honda dealer. They were clueless about the car (just an aside). Anyway, after I got it home I noticed that the passenger side seat belt guide was missing. After going through the car I found it in the glove box. I tried sliding it back into the seat but all efforts to get it to secure have failed. Has anyone ever done this? If so, could you let me know how it's supposed to slide in? Does it slide in front of the metal tab(s) within the seat or behind the metal tab(s)? Or.... do I just bite the bullet and take it to my local Smart dealer for them to fix?

Seat Belt Guide:

I think that is going to be a difficult repair. I once saw a reference on the website, FQ101 showing how to update the seatbelt guide to the newer design. I believe that you may have to remove the upholstery to access the seat frame, so that you can reattach the seat belt guide.
Your remedies would be to go back to the dealer and tell them to deal with it or go to an upholstery shop and have them try and reinstall the seatbelt guide. Your old guide may be broken and have to be replaced. If so, you will need to acquire one from a smart Center parts dept. or locate a used one.

On the seat back frame there is a bracket, or carrier, that sticks out to the side into which the seat belt guide is inserted. Unfortunately, you can not likely see it because of the seat back foam that surrounds it. The guide itself has two tabs with a hook on the end of the lower tab and a step on the end of the upper tab. In theory, one sticks the lower end of the guide into the guide carrier, then pivots the upper end of the guide into the carrier until it snaps or locks into place.

Thanks Rustedwrench

My seats are leather and I haven't looked at whether or not I can get to the mechanism without dismantling the seat. I slid the guide into the two slots that are cut into the leather but nothing seamed to click. I guessed it had to pivot into it.

Could you perhaps also provide me with the documentation you displayed in your screen shots? (PDF or Links)? Or is the top secret. :)

Found the problem

Rustedwrench, after looking at your photos I spread apart the slits in the leather and noticed something flopping around inside. I was able to pull it out. The image is attached. It appears that the "clip" that the guide snaps into had popped through the opening. I'll have to do some work to squeeze the spring metal clip back into the slot.
Thanks for the images. I helped enough to figure out the rest.
