Transmission oil change with what?

So now after utube and the tech stickies on here I need to know what the actual recommended fluid is for a transmission oil change.

I've heard tranny fluid, gear oil and manual transaxle gear lube

What does the factory service manual call for. (haven't got a service manual yet). I will use good quality synthetic but what is called for?

You didn’t mention what version smart car you own. 451 or 453.
This is what you use, in the 451 smart car.

This is what I used. At around $18 a quart it's not cheap. The good news is you only need to buy three.

GL-4 75W-90 gear oil...

GL-4 75W-90 gear oil.

Not Gl-5 gear oil...

I did at Advance auto parts. At least in Texas, USA you can. I'm not sure if it's available nationwide or in other countries though.

...this oil...that oil....naaaaaaah...Red Line MT-90 (gl4) gear oil done the trick for 10 years

I know, really old thread but if someone finds it - mattwithcats & jetfuel are right - no GL-5. I found this on Amazon and it ticks all of the boxes and the price is right: TRIAX Synergy Gear MT 75W-90 GL-4 (MT-90)
