I've seen lots of sites that offer chip tuning for the first generation smarts, and a few that offer it for the new diesel 451s. Does anyone know if chip tuning is available for the 451 with 71 hp gas engine we're getting in the US? Thanks!
Sorry to bore folks with my SRT8 talk, but it was another MB / Daimler product so maybe there is some relevance. The members of our forum were just hounding the tuners from day one and they all tried and failed for a couple of years. My TCM was finally flashed after about 2 years by a major tuning company because they had ties to MB and the TCM work was done in Europe, but still no luck with the ECU.MB deliberately changed the ECU to restrict any full table reads or writes.... I only add this to emphasize why some companies constantly make it harder and harder to change the ECU program...
Slightly off topic but the owners manual clearly discloses that this car does have an accident / incident event recorder on board.... think about that and let your imagination go wild with conspiracy therories....
You can upload the image to a hosting site like ImageShack® - Image Hosting and then copy the direct link, then click the small yellow icon with a picture of a mountain and a sun, paste the link there... or manually....The Bosch ECU HAS to be opened at this time due to smart/Merc/Mitsu not wanting you to be able to READ/WRITE through the OBD port.
Alot of the modern vehicles are going this route.
I will post up some photos of the ECU when its open for you to have a look at.
Do you just "link" the photo from here to where it is saved?

I would venture to say that they probably meant that the shipper should insure his ECU package for approx. $2,000.Shipping costs:
US $2,000.00
US Postal Service Express Mail Flat Rate Envelope®
Something fishy here.
Very cool, but unfortunately we do not have the 84 hp (i-e: turbo) smarts here in the US.451 remaps
A thoroughly developed remap for the 1000cc smart 451. Initial remap will take power from 84bhp to approx 110bhp. Torque is increased by approx 25-30%.
Can't we bolt the turbo parts onto our engine?Very cool, but unfortunately we do not have the 84 hp (i-e: turbo) smarts here in the US.
