Does anyone know if we have self-adjusting hydraulic valve lifters in our 451's. Nowhere in the owners manual do I see anything about valve or tappet adjustments in the projected service schedules, so I assume that it takes care of itself. Anybody know for sure???

..the retaining cup varies in thickness...no shims as I understand it..

If it is shim/bucket design it requires cams removed to replace shims the design is very compact . Checking lash is one thing but the replacement is quit another.The good part is unless run in extream conditions [ high rpm for extended time ] they stay within spec. most of the time.Change your oil and filters more often than 10000miles!!!We will see as we all begain to get the miles on our cars
