Throttle body reset?

Apparently the throttle body for "fly by wire" cars can become lazy and not open fully. On some other cars it is possible to reset it using the following method.

Insert key and turn to 1 so the electrics are on but the engine is off.
Press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor (including kickdown if you have it).
Hold the pedal down for 5 seconds and turn the key back to 0.
Now release the pedal.
Wait a minute or so before starting your car.

edited; i found this on a UK smart roadster forum.

If you have a scan gauge or a ODBII scanner that will show live data streams from the CAN BUS you can check to see how far your throttle body is opening. I learned that from JetFuel riding about 160 mph down the interstate in his turbo Brabus. Golly what a difference a turbo makes. I am so in love with his car. His mods are awesome and well executed.DCO

I know that many OBD2 vehicles map your driving habits and this can make the throttle response get sluggish over time. Disconnecting the battery for an hour or two will also rest the computer including the fuel trims and bring the car back to life. I do this a few times during the year. It is noticeable. I think even the shifting patterns might be affected...

I will try out my OBD scanner to see what it is showing for the throttle position while driving. Could be interesting.
