I have a 451 and want to buy a long threaded bolt to help align the wheels when I rotate them.

You can't rotate them, they are staggered sizes.

 

Actually, I can. I have 7.5x17 Brabus wheels on all four corners with 215/35-17 Hankook tires all around. Thanks for your advice, though.

 

Coulda mentioned that from the getgo.

 

Believe it or not, I am actually smart enough to know I can't rotate different size tires and wheels. I do thank you for your concern. :laugh:

 

Hey guys, thanks everyone for all the help. I remember seeing those tools several years ago mentioned on here. I will be ordering one tomorrow.

 

Save the money.
Go to home depot or ace hardware and buy one each 12mm x 1.5mm x 60mm bolt, go home and cut the head off.


Maybe I should start selling these, lol easy to make with my lathe.


BTW they are the same as many popular Mercedes and Bimmers.


The only oddball are the Volvos, which for a long time had 12mm x 1.75mm lug bolts.

 

New to Smart here. Why do you need this device? Can't you just hold the wheel up and screw in the lug bolt?

Just in case older Mercedes (early 90s W126 or W201) came with tool kits that had one of these hole alignment devices. I checked on McGard website and seems same thread as my mother’s ‘92 190E.

For those members who have decided to run rear wheels on all four corners, I'm curious if you've noticed any reduction in your turning radius? Your answers may save me some time experimenting. thanks!

A while back I was asking about this and some said a 15x6 with a 195/55-15 was all you could fit.
Well I wanted more, so to let you know I have 17x8 ET32 on all 4 corners with 35mm of spacers, H&R Lowering springs.
205/40-17 Rear
195/40-17 Front
And the only place it rubs is my flare when full lock turn on a bump.

Any wheel will fit with persuasion.

That was one the things I liked about all my Saabs rim locator pins that you could set the wheel on while putting in the lug bolts. However, when you replaced the OEM rims you needed to take the pins out.

 

got rid of staggerd a while ago, rims slightly diff, but tires all the same, car handles better and allows rotation.

 

I had wheel bolts from a 1997 bmw 318
They worked fine on rear but fronts need the length trimmed, hope that helps
